In a bid to expand program offerings under the Kinesthetics Department of the College of Culture, Arts, and Sports (CCAS) at Cebu Normal University (CNU), a new program is being submitted to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for assessment approval.
The program, Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science, major in Fitness and Sports Management, is designed to produce sports managers, leaders, and fitness advocates. Over the course of three years, students will gain a strong foundation in exercise science, sports administration, and wellness promotion, preparing them to contribute effectively to the health and fitness industry.
The CHED Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQAT), which conducted the onsite monitoring and evaluation, assessed the universityโs readiness in terms of facilities, faculty qualifications, curriculum, and other essential areas.
The university president, in his speech via Zoom, emphasized the importance of fitness and timely intervention, aiming to create more fitness enthusiasts as people are โconfronted with a lot of health issues, and offering this program is part of the universityโs quest towards mental health.โ
The RQAT was led by CHED Education Supervisor II Dr. Bernard Pantonilla, together with RQAT Team member Dr. Chris Mejarito.
Also present were CNU Quality Assurance Unit Director Dr. Ma. Rosita Hernani, Kinesthetics Department faculty members, and university administrative officials.
Padayon, CNU!
