๐พ๐๐ฝ๐ ๐พ๐๐๐ โ The Cebu Normal University – Learning Resource Center (CNU-LRC), in collaboration with the Cebu Librarians Association, Inc. (CLAI), the PLAI Central Visayas Region Librarians Council (PLAI CeVRLC), Liber Enterprise, Linar International Book Resources Inc., and CE Logic, successfully conducted โLibrary 101: Strengthening Safety, Preparedness, and Serviceโ on June 20, 2026. The activity gathered librarians and library personnel from various institutions to enhance knowledge and awareness of health, safety, and disaster preparedness in library and information environments.
The program featured two resource speakers who shared insights on key aspects of library safety and preparedness. ๐๐ฟ. ๐๐ฎ๐ป ๐ ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฒ๐น ๐ง. ๐๐ฎ๐ผ, Associate Professor IV of the CNU-VSMMC College of Medicine, delivered a lecture on โLibrary Health and Safety 101: Promoting a Safe, Healthy, and Prepared Learning Environment,โ focusing on occupational safety and health, workplace wellness, and preparedness measures applicable to library operations. ๐ ๐ฟ. ๐๐ผ๐ต๐ป ๐๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ฒ ๐ง. ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ, MLIS, Archivist of De La Salle University, presented โLibrary Disaster Preparedness 101: Safeguarding Collections and Ensuring Continuity of Services,โ highlighting disaster risk reduction strategies, collection preservation, and service continuity planning.
The activity served as a venue for professional development, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among library and information professionals, while emphasizing the importance of fostering safe, resilient, and service-oriented library environments.
Through this initiative, the CNU LRC and its partners continue to strengthen professional competencies, promote institutional linkages, and support the delivery of quality library services in alignment with the goals of lifelong learning, safety, and organizational resilience.
