The Cebu Normal University Library Children’s Corner-Special collection together with University extension program had successfully conducted a story telling for mothers in Barangay Nangka, Balamban last November 16, 2018.
The project was conceived to help Barangay Nangka, Balamban, Cebu access to the information materials. This would also contribute to the educational, life skills and cultural growth of the community. This project is a vital approach to the campaign of the proponents to eliminate illiteracy in the countryside and to promote a love of reading habit among the residents.
After fulfilling the line of activities to establish a functional Reading Center, the proponents together with the library staff headed by Mrs. Portia T. Ruben of CNU Library Children’s Corner-Special Collection Librarian spearheaded the BOOK ENDORSEMENT CEREMONY conduct a Storytelling Seminar-Workshops for mothers of Barangay Nangka, Balamban, Cebu. The purpose of the activity is to encourage mothers to teach children to love books and inculcate the love for reading through storytelling. Moreover, the primary aim also of the seminar workshop is to contribute to the educational skills and cultural growth of the community which is a vital approach to the campaign which is to eliminate illiteracy in our countryside.
We invite an International awardee in 2015 Movers and Shakers of the Library Industry Mrs. Lorna Alcantara Eguia founder of Books in Bags and named as one of the 50 individuals around the world who not only expanded library services but also transformed libraries into centers of community activity.
